What's New

The reinvention continues

Our Mission and Vision Event held in November 2008 continued the process of agency-wide reinvention that we had begun in 2007. Meeting topics centered on setting personal goals, collectively establishing department goals, and taking responsibility. Executive Director Richard Sergi reaffirmed the pact between senior management and all employees that in essence states, "When you take responsibility, you've got a job." He noted that delivering on our mission is made possible by having the best people working toward clearly defined roles, responsibilities and goals. He explained the agency's commitment to current and future employment as well as the opportunity for advancement through BHA training and the creation of new positions.

The November event was part of the larger movement of reaffirming the BHA as a dynamic and mission-driven organization. Along with professional development, organizational restructuring in 2008 helped us redefine who we are and what we do on an individual and departmental level.

The Brockton Housing Authority is a dynamic professional organization committed to providing the best quality of life for our residents. Through responsible leadership, teamwork, and collaboration we are the catalyst for positive change and revitalization in our community. With employee development, growth, and participation our dedicated staff will continue to meet the challenges of the ever-changing world in which we live.

Vision Statement

Within the next three years, the Brockton Housing Authority will become a self-sufficient property manager. We will accomplish this goal through accountability, competitiveness, and sound asset management.

We will establish internal goals of efficiency, production, training and cooperation that will become the standards of excellence in the public housing industry, while continuing our commitment to our current and future residents.

History

While we have always known who we are as an organization, and how we impact our world, we decided in 2007 to refine our thoughts and notions into coherent statements. We turned to our employees to craft a mission statement that would define and guide our agency for years to come. With Modernization Director Frank Hinds facilitating the writing process, the nine members of our mission statement committee wrote the Authority's first-ever mission statement as well as a companion vision statement. The team's concerted effort paid off by expressing what we are all about - and what we will become. These two statements form the communication foundation that defines the way for the BHA's continued success.
