Resident Resources

What's New

Service coordinators provide advocacy and services to residents in need - often the elderly and those with disabilities. The team members accomplished much through June 2009. For example, they:

  • Gathered vital information on residents to help coordinators assess needs and have reliable emergency information on hand

  • Developed a tenant association and an emergency food pantry at Belair Towers.

  • Linked residents to service provider programs such as the OCES/SHP Healthy Living Program and the Whitman Counseling Center's on-site services.
  • Organized services and events such as a free tax return preparation service, a Medicare presentation, a parent empowerment training and the Senior Reception.

  • Made numerous referrals to organizations and programs such as the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Food Stamp Program, the Old Colony Elder Services Protective Unit and many more.
  • Evaluated residents for mental health and substance abuse issues and facilitated treatment
