Rental Assistance managing new housing vouchers

The Rental Assistance Department continued to expand its portfolio throughout 2010. HUD awarded us 100 designated housing vouchers designed to assist families with disabled heads of households. While we maintained excellent service as new families entered the system, we anticipate adding additional staff in 2011 to properly service all of the new families.

Tenant Selection managing new rental vouchers

In 2010, HUD awarded Tenant Selection with 118 rental vouchers to assist non-elderly disabled households. Screening the Section 8 waiting list on file and working with Rental Assistance, we placed all 118 families under lease within 60 days of the award. We are working swiftly to place qualified families in housing opportunities that result from government agencies assigning responsibilities to us, and the BHA completing neighborhood revitalization and home renovation projects.

Earning HUD recognition

In 2010, Rental Assistance achieved HUD's "High Performer" status for Section 8 work. This is a significant achievement. HUD's Section Eight Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) evaluates 13 different areas for compliance and the BHA excelled in all criteria.
